What’s important?

'I'll have sugar, skim milk, a large cup and extra hot'. You’d think I’d have better things to do on a Sunday than read an article about baristas setting boundaries as to what coffee they will serve and jacking up about pandering to people’s request for certain coffees which would mean that the quality of the coffee served would be affected.  Included in this are orders for sugar, skim milk, a large cup and extra hot.  One woman who objected to this stand was quoted as saying “As someone who likes a sugar stirred into my coffee, I don’t want to have to take the lid off and put in the sugar as I’m running out the door”.

Wake Up Sydney

I just received an email from the wonderfully wiseJono Fisher of Wake Up Sydney and the Kindness Revolution (www.wakeupsydney.com.au). I love this personal reflection from him - "I have just returned from a silent retreat and am feeling creatively regenerated. I love slowing down and reflecting on what is really important to me. Our modern society is changing very quickly, yet the nature of the mind has never changed. It feels to me that the most important “technology” we have to access is learning how to tame our minds and uncover our natural kindness for ourselves and each other. From this place, we can liberate ourselves into change agents of fierce love and deep peace."

What are we missing?

I've just received this thought provoking email - the content of which is true.It give us some great questions to ask ourselves. Washington, DC Metro Station on a cold January morning in 2007. The man with a violin played six Bach pieces for about 45 minutes. During that time approx. 2 thousand people went through the station, most of them on their way to work. After 3 minutes a middle aged man noticed there was a musician playing. He slowed his pace and stopped for a few seconds and then hurried to meet his schedule.
